Summer Visitors to Galveston Island Ripe for Towing Scams Due to Illegal Towing Signs Scam Costing $300

Illegal towing signs dot parking lots around Galveston Island awaiting an unlucky soul to park only to return to find their vehicle had been towed away.  The sign above, posted at the Jack in the Box on the Seawall lacks all the required text on the sign.  But John Q motorists would have no clue rather the sign was legal or not and just pay the $300 towing ransom.

Safest bet for motorists is to park on the street and if you are towed while in Galveston, please file a complaint against the towing company with the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations.

From personal observation while in Galveston last month, the majority of private parking lots lack the required legal signage posted at the entrances.
